Best Cheap Canarm Fan

Hunter makes a very similar fan at a similar price. The Hunter model has a limited lifetime warranty.The description of the Canarm does not list any warranty.Is it an inferior product?

I wanted a modern fan without paying a lot. This fit the bill. I've owned Modern Fan Co. units before, but don't feel they look as good installed on 8' ceilings (taller is better). I wouldn't say the Calibre is a work of art, but it is nice.Installation was mostly straightforward. I did have to call customer service because I thought I had made an error in installing it when hitting speed 3 turned the fan on low, and hitting 1 turned it on high. They called me right back and said this was in fact correct (seems backwards). It does make a soft whirring noise (not the fan itself, but the motor) which is my only real complaint. If not for that it would get 5 stars. I'm not sure if this is normal, but if you are a sensitive sleeper this would probably bother you.Since the light is dimmable (which I really never use) you cannot put a normal CFL in the fixture. I asked customer service and they said I could use a dimmable CFL, though I haven't purchased one yet.Overall a good unit.

I like the looks of the fan (it's a good thing or it would be going back). Good lighting, but the fan, at first didn't work, then when it did, it is a little too noisy, like a constant humming. Take this into consideration before purchasing.

There being no other review for this fan, I feel obligated to let prospective buyers know that they should move on and don't look back! But to be fair, this is a nice looking fan (which gets it 2 instead of 1 star!). So if you intend to have someone else put it up, then it might work for you. But you should ensure that the kids are not in earshot and the installer is not a close relative lest they never talk to you again! Yes, installing this fan (and I did 2 of them) is a frustrating experience, even for the experienced DIYer.I've installed dozens of fans over the years and the job has become increasingly easy with various innovations from most manufacturers. But installing this one took me back 30yrs. Modern fans have a bracket that screws directly into the fan ceiling box, to which the fan down-rod pivot ball simply falls into. A shroud then covers it all up. Very secure and easy to install.This one has a flat bracket that screws into the ceiling box. You then have to temporarily "hang" the fan on a hook (on the bracket) while completing the wiring. The down-rod pivot ball is supported by the shroud (!), so to complete the install you have to hold the entire weight of the fan while stuffing the control unit and all the wiring into the shroud and trying hook it over 2 screws in the ceiling box bracket. This is incredibly awkward as the wiring & control box is a tight fit (and the fan is quite heavy), and the screws are tight up against the ceiling.Oh, and they…

recently remodeled my master bedroom, new furniture, new paint, new fixtures, etc.. had a real hard time finding a ceiling fan i thought would finish up the suite. when i found this one i thought it would work nicely so i ordered it. well the picture showed it @ 10" off of the ceiling, but when i received it i knew with a 3" downrod it was not to be. was able to correct it by going out and purchasing a 12" down rod. it worked out really well. the motor is very quiet and the blades push a good amount of air around. for the most part i am happy with the outcome, just be prepared to purchase a longer down rod if you want it to appear as it does in the pictures.

I wanted to wait until I installed this to review it so now that it's installed, I can say that I was pretty disappointed with the quality of this fan/light. First of all the blade colors given in the description are wrong, it's white and very dark oak, NOT bleached oak (which would have matched my floor:(The item is made in China which should tell you something nowadays about how good it is, and the box it came in literally disintegrated (are they making boxes out of dust now?)upon opening it. Several pieces were damaged, one being the fan blade bracket whose very cheap finish was -peeling off- on one piece, and 2 of the blades though securely packaged and wrapped had tears on the dark oak side (thank God), so this side can never be used. AND, the blades seem to be made of cardboard, which explains how a color can be torn off (it's likely a decal of some sort)! Is wood that expensive? I don't know whether to blame the company or China for making this just another crappy imported product.If this was a $40-45 fan, I could understand, but not for $123.Amazon customer service was very nice but these are pretty hard to ship back when the box disintegrates and you've already installed the motor and light kit.

The picture of this fan looks like the blades are maple(light) in color and the description never mentioned blade color. When we received this fan the blades were dark in color like cherry and rosewood, I was disapppointed that it was not what it appeared to be in the picture

We installed this fan in our kitchen. All of our other ceiling fans are Hunter so we had high expectations. This fan is very nice, looks just like the picture. It takes 2 standard bulbs (not included, and not 3 like the product title states). It offers three pull chains, all the same length (even the reverse chain). It is very quiet and produces lots of air movement. Very pleased!
