18V 1/2" Driver Drill, 1.5 Ah Li-Ion, 374 in/lbs torque, 2 Batteries (green)
I've had pretty good luck with Hitachi tools up until this one. The overall quality seems closer to a homeowner grade than the price would indicate. Number one problem is the chuck, which is continually either slipping the bit or jamming and having to be released with pliers. I think I should be able drill a 3/16 hole in hardwood without the bit slipping in the chuck! Number two is this drill is weak, with gloves on I can stop the drill by gripping the chuck, which I often do when trying to get the stupid chuck to grab the bit. Number three is the battery release which is uncannily stubborn. These are all problems I would have expected if I had paid less. I wish I had paid more and got the Makita.

Ergonomic. Powerfull. 3 amp/hour batteries. Good warranty. I considered milwaukee, and makita before settling on this drill driver. I would buy this again and pick up 2 more for my family. The futuristic look is not my favorite but you get past it quick. Oh yeah, the driver is unbelievably handy. I was considering picking up one of the new micro-drivers to use on small projects but this driver is small enough to fit about anywhere, is light, and powerfull. I have used the driver twice as much as the drill so far. I just keep finding uses for it. The drill is well ballanced with a metal jacobs keyless chuck. About the only nock on these is the light built into the belt clip. Kinda gimicky but can help if you are in the dark. Would have been better to go conventional like the makita IMO. The bag is good as bags go but why not a real case? It can't add much cost if any and is a superior way to store powertools. I don't notice too much noise on the charger fan like others noted but to each his or her own. I would say that the makita drill felt a little bit better in my hand and has a better light. The driver feels the same in my hand as the makita, but the hitachi is rated for more torque. I just get the feeling that the hitachi is built a bit more robust than the makita. The warranty is three versus five favoring the hitachi. Oh yeah, price. This is a no-brainer if you get it anywhere near my price, US $200 shipped. WOW. I still think somebody made a mistake. First of all, if you're new to the world of impact drivers you have to get on board. It's just as simple as that! But seriously, if you're still driving screws/lag bolts/whatever with a drill or a ratchet, you're just working too hard. The torque is astounding, and this unit nearly matches the big beefy pneumatic impact drivers in a much nicer package. So when you see those giant lag screws you need to attach that deck ledger with you will not even sweat putting them in.I think the bigger advantage is that, unlike a drill, the impact action means that the torque is in bursts so it doesn't crank the drill around. With a drill you are usually doing just as much work as the drill (though with a bit of mechanical advantage). Even screwing in a bunch of smaller screws requires you to counteract the twisting force. Not so with an impact driver. You can virtually drive small and large screws alike with two fingers (the way you'd hold a wine glass). Now about this tool in particular... This tool is meant to drive screws more than large bolts. I have a beefy impact driver I use for most of those applications simply because the tip of this driver is for a "standard" hex shaft bit with a ball-detent. I'm sure the driver has the power to drive them if you have the right bit. I've been using it for over a year now (I got it at a trade show the week it was released but before it was in stock). The battery life is outstanding. They hold their charges well between uses, and have survived…

I bought this tool set a few months ago to use around the horse farm where i live. So far this tool performs excellent. I am very hard on my tools and this hitachi has taken a beating. The impact driver took a 30 foot drop off the roof of the barn on to a pile of horse poop. I just brushed it off and continued working. It has been in mud and horse bedding and has not let me down. The drill i do not use as much but has not let me down. I highly recommend this product.

I'm no pro, but I use a lot of tools. We bought a 70 year old house that needed some work, so I'm getting to it with this tool set. After searching high and low for the right kind of combo kit - this one is perfect. It doesn't come with an impact driver I'll probably never need, or a bunch of other random tools that would be useless. It does, however, have three very useful tools:Hammer drill: Compared to all those junk cordless drills I've used before, this is the single greatest tool ever. I've used it for everything from assembling Ikea furniture to drilling holes in a concrete slab for demolition in the backyard, and it has handled everything like a champ. It tears through wood, stone, and metal with ease, and the hammer function is invaluable when drilling through stone or concrete. I couldn't imagine going back to a less powerful tool. My one quibble - it's a bit large and heavy, so I did invest in a small cordless screwdriver for those simple jobs. However, I yearn for the power of my Hitachi whenever I use it, as it's just so weak!Reciprocating saw: I don't use it all day every day like others, but it seems to work great for me. The keyless attachment is a great feature that saves time and headaches. There is a chunky safety button which lets me know I won't be sawing off any fingers. I've used it to cut down a bunch of bushes, cut through some old and very hard wood, and slice through metal pipes, including heavy steel pipes. It works great.Light: It's a light, but it…

I have had about 10 cordless drills in the past 15 years and recently upgraded to this Hitachi 9 pc kit. Most recently I had a Dewalt 18v 4pc that was about 5 years old. even though my Dewalt tools were in OK shape the 4 batteries were pretty much dead and had been "revived" a few times. I looked at replacing the batteries but between spending $250 for a new charger and pair of batteries or just replacing the whole kit it made sense to get new tools (my drill needed repair as well). My initial impression is mixed I chose the Hitachi set over the Dewalt mainly due to cost and the Lithium Ion batteries, not to mention that they have a 10 year warranty on their tools. The batteries on the Hitachi kit were definitely lighter than dewalt's. seemed like they were almost 1/3rd the weight but their plastic shell does seem to be cheaper quality then dewalt's and the clip mechanism also seems not as sturdy (hopefully though they will last longer).I was very disappointed with the Hitachi lantern. The description states it has both LED's and a fluorescent lamp what it doesn't state is that there is ONLY 1 LED. Now com-on what can you do with 1 LED? the fluorescent bulb isn't that great compared to Dewalts gooseneck lamp this thing is nothing more than a childs toy.Looking at the Drill itself, it's a nice solidly made tool. The design is a bit funky as it has a mix of plastic and rubber pieces its very comparable to the Dewalt 18v unit. Hitachi does fall WAY short on the silly belt…

I've been using this tool set for a couple of years. All the tools work very well and the 18V lithium-ion batteries have plenty of power. Things to note: the circular saw has the motor on the right instead of the left. Nice for seeing the cut but some add ons don't work with this style. The bag is really big and heavy when it is loaded with the whole set. It is a well made bag with pockets on the inside for this and that.

Hitachi's DMR series of cordless impacts combines the catagory's latest technology with Hitachi's world class durability. The 2 piece motor is constructed with heavy gauge copper coils and the striker is designed to deliver maximum power output while withstanding extreme heat and stress. These impacts offer electronic feedback and external carbon brushes. A 5 position belt hook and small ergonomic design make these tools easy for the end user to handle. Model
Have had impact wrench for few weeks. It is very light and the battery's hold charge very well. The work light is a nice option.Works well to disassemble engine parts etc.The only possible negative is it has a tough time with wheel nuts. However it really is not rated as high a tork range as a air impact.Overall meets all my expectations.

Look past the radically cool design of Hitachi's new DS18DL Lithium-Ion Drill/Driver -- which is admittedly hard to do -- and you'll find one of the very toughest, best- engineered cordless drills on the market. This compact, pro-duty tool is powered by a high- tech 18-volt lithium-ion battery that produces an impressive 560 in./lbs. of torque for drilling large-diameter holes and driving long screws through the toughest materials. This is a brand new in box Hitachi item. This item comes with full Hitachi warranty. We are an authorized Hitachi dealer.
I have purchased several brands of battery powered drills for installing electrical lines in new construction, so I tend to use my cordless drills more than most. This Hitachi is hands down the best I've ever used. Not only the superior torque, but the battery life is incredible. My Pan/Dew/Craft and Mil drills were all 'good' but suffered from some sort of problem. This thing chews through wood like its made of butter - the Lith/Ion batteries are incredible. the light on the side really works well also. The looks are a little "toy" oriented - reminds me of my Kid's Transformer toys, but the performance is unsurpassed.

14.4V Impact Driver 3.0 Ah Li-Ion, 1240 in/lbs torque, 2 Batteries,
I've had this impact driver for about 3 weeks now and it works great. I had a problem in the beginning of shattering my bits, but with the switch set to "s" (for saver, I guess), the torque is cut in half, so no more broken bits. It still has almost 700 in-lbs in this setting, which is quite a lot. The battery has plenty of power to go most of the day, and the tool is much lighter that my 18V drill that it replaced. Highly recommended.

I talked to some of the older much more experienced carpenters I work with and they all said " go with the Panasonic impact driver". They usually know best, but I decided to do my research to make sure I was getting the best in modern tools. Everything I read about this impact driver was positive. Now that I have had the privileged of using this tool over the past month I am more than happy with it and would say for sure, it out performs the makita, hatatchi impact drivers I have used. The drill is great as well. You really can't beat this deal that amazon offers with the combo package.

This has got to be one of my best purchases on amazon , all the tools in the box work great ! Already did 3 projects in which the tools were worth the money I spend on them . Absolutely loved this purchase . I do wish it was easier to organize them into the box cause it is a bit annoying but once you get the hang of it you'll be able to take them out and put them back in with no problem .

I purchased this Hitachi 6 pack in June 2010. I am a light user. I had not used the equipment and batteries for the past 6 weeks. Now, both batteries are dead and will not charge. The charger reads that each battery is broken. The charger does charge a third battery that I borrowed and am using. I tried to charge up the 2 batteries several times thereafter, however, they still read as broken and will not charge. I believe that Hitachi's EMB1830 18V 3.0Ah Li-ion HXP batteries are bad products and cannot be relied upon. As a result, I believe that these Hitachi power tools should be avoided at all costs. Without batteries, they are worthless. This is a terrible and disappointing product. All 6 power tools at about $600 cost are now worthless.AMENDED REVIEW - NOVEMBER 11, 2011I just purchased another new Hitachi EBM1830 from Amazon receiving it on September 19, 2011. I charged it and used it for about 10 minutes. A week later, I used it for about 5 minutes and then charged it again. I store the battery in a covered garage separate from the charger. The first week of October, I used it for about 10 minutes and stored it away in the garage. On October 15, it would not charge and the charger indicates it as broken. Hitachi battery sales seem fraudulent. Something is just not right with this product manufacturing, distribution and sales.
