Peltor Tactical 6S Hearing Protectors block out harmful noise while amplifying low-level sounds. You get the best of both words. AOSafety Peltor Tactical Hearing Protectors protect your ears from dangerous impulse noise like gunfire while also giving you distortion-free amplification of low level sounds like range commands and conversation. Wearers hear low level sounds up to three times louder than when wearing conventional protectors, but when dangerous noises occur the electronic "valve" closes to reduce the noise to a maximum of 82dBA. More: Distortion-free amplification of low level sounds up to 19dB; NRR 19dB electronics limit amplified sounds to 82dB; Stereo microphones enhance sound localization; Independent volume controls on each cup; Folding, low profile design for easy storage. The hearing protection choice of law enforcement, the military and shooters all over the world can be your choice too! Order today! AOSafety Peltor Tactical 6S Hearing Protectors
I'm a competition shooter and as such need to be able to understand range commands while also protecting my hearing. I intended this to be my main use for this item. There are some pro's and con's to this system. One such pro is its compact size, reduced at the top of the ear piece for use under a helmet if needed. One con that come to mind is the low amount of insulation inside the ear cup. There is this little flimsy piece of foam that can be replaced with thicker pads from, in my case another set of ear pro. While it is a great system, the compact version does not have the higher sound amplifying capability as the larger round type of the same brand. As another pro I must mention the low weight. You can have these on for hours and only realize it if your sweating hard. One con to this "behind the head" type is that is will be pushed off your ears in the prone position, which sucks. If used in a constant wearing situation such as combat or training its also going to limit your ability to look up for the same reason. This can be fixed by just wearing these upside down, sounds silly but is the only option in these situations. The on/off knobs are easily bumped and turned on inside a ruck sack or whatever and you will find them on when you thought they were off. Not sure what model has gel inserts in the pad portion of the cups but it's not this one and it sure would be nice to have for extended use. All that said and I would buy this item again. Its ability to amplify…

Peltor Comtac II SwatTac II MT15H69FB-08-SV
What I received were not real Peltors. I compared them to my roommate's Swat Tac IIs (purchased from another website), had the same model number, and they felt completely different. The ones I got felt like they had a much cheaper headband, and they came with a microphone. Also, the microphone seemed permanently affixed. My roommate's pair did not come with a microphone, and it appears that the MT15H69FB-08 SV is not supposed to come with a mic. Also, the sticker that had the model number on it was different. It looked like it tried to copy the other one but got certain things wrong (it had 3M on the sticker, whereas the other pair did not). They appeared to turn on and function ok, but I did not use them for more than 2 minutes, as I decided to return them when I realized they were a knock-off.

3M Peltor Soundtrap Slimline Electronic Headset Olive Green - Headband Model MT15H67FB
1. I ordered the Peltor MT15H67FB model. Then I returned them when I learned that:2. They have four batteries to replace3. Two ear shells must be opened to replace the batteries4. To replace the batteries, an ***enormous*** force must be applied to open each earpiece. (Define "enormous?" In this context, enormous means 40 to 50 lbs of force.) Clearly, it is likely that the plastic "tongue-in-groove" design that keeps each earpiece together will eventually weaken or split or crack when the earpiece is opened and closed for battery changes. The re-assembly of each earpiece requires just as much force. The re-assembly is also awkward because the foam cushion insert must be properly placed. It's quite possible to tear the delicate foam cushion while struggling with the re-assembly of the earpiece.5. Each earpiece is electrically separate from the other. From the practical standpoint, that means that when you want to adjust the volume, you must do it twice, once for each ear. ...and you'd better do that carefully because if they're not exactly the same, a sound or voice coming from the side of the louder earpiece will seem to be closer. If your hearing protection is a top priority, you might consider the Peltor 97039 instead. ONE battery is all you must replace and replacement is very easy. There is ONE volume control. Does the 97039 cost more? Yes.

The Peltor® Tactical Sport® hearing protector muff utilizes electronics that respond at lightning speed and protect your hearing from loud impulse noises. In many case the system reacts so gently that's you'll never hear the cut-off when the protector is activated.
This is my second set of the Peltor Tactical Sport Hearing Protectors (PTSHP). Lost my first set on my last trip to the range. Somebody got lucky! These are great hearing protectors. They use one pair of AAA batteries and the first pair was used about 2 hours a month for 2 years before I lost them. I also have the slimmer Peltor "Shotgunner" hearing protectors with on/off knobs on each muff. They work well but frequently get accidently bumped on and kill the batteries. Never had that problem with these. While these work great for me, my wife doesn't like them as well as the slim "Shotgunner" model. She also says these don't suppress the noise as well when wearing eye protection. Probably a leak around the ear cup where the eye protection arm rests over the ear. These come with olive cup heads or bright orange cup heads that are easily changed. The head band fits close enough to my head to allow my hat to fit on top.

Tactical Hearing Protectors - Tactical 6S MAX4 Camo (NRR 20dB)Manufacture ID: 97087-00000The Tactical line of hearing protectors from 3M are uniquely designed to give shooters the best of both worlds: Protection from dangerous impulse noise such as gunfire along with the distortion-free amplification of low level sounds such as range commands and conversation. The electronics are designed to limit amplified sounds to 82dBA. Tactical hearing protectors combine the high performance of our passive muff with advanced electronics. Wearers can hear low level sounds up to three times louder than when wearing conventional protectors but when dangerous noises occur the electronic “valve” closes to reduce the noise.
I'm a competitive shooter and I have some hearing loss from my time served in the military, so hearing under normal conditions is a problem for me without wearing hearing protection. With normal hearing protectors on I can hear basically nothing.Using the Peltor 97087's for the first time, I was amazed. I cranked the volume up all the way and could hear better with them on than I could with them off AND they completely muted all loud noises. I could have normal conversations with friends at competitions for the first time! The fact that they are stereo (have a mic in each earpiece) is a great bonus as well since you can tell exactly where any sound is coming from. They fit great and are comfortable, shooters and hunters will love these.Only one minor negative is that you have to remember to turn the microphones off when you finish shooting but that doesn't take long to get used to. The first time you forget should be your last because the batteries will die in a few days. Of course they work great as normal ear protectors without the batteries but you lose the advantage of being able to hear while wearing them.Advice; Keep a pair of spare batteries in your shooting bag!

Turning on the electronics requires pressing and holding the on/off button. Do this while wearing the hearing protectors and you'll be punished with an incredibly loud and annoying BEEP. The on BEEP is different than the off BEEP, there is no way to reduce the volume of these BEEPS. The volume controls are on the same side as the on/off button. Fortunately they are slightly different shapes. There is an audio in jack, but it isn't a standard 1/8" mini plug or even a 3/32" sub mini plug. You will need a special adapter to plug into a radio or iPod. The input jack is incapable of providing true stereo listening. There are only two not the required three poles for stereo. The optional (not included) "stereo" cable just mixes the channels to both ears.I found the not included "Stereo Cable for Peltor Electronic Muffs-FL6N (3.5mm plug)" available from other web sellers for twenty five dollars!Headphones are capable of amplifying normal sounds above ambient levels, in quiet environments you'll be able to hear things that normally go unnoticed. The microphones do work in stereo to allow for directional hearing. The manual lists the attenuation dB values as H 31, M 29, L 25. The ISO 4869-1 EN 352-4 grade is A, and unit meets 89/336/EEC. These specs puts these headphones near the top of available headphones. Overkill for mowing the yard, more suitable for indoor shooting ranges.AA batteries are included. The Peltor tactical 6S hearing protector muff blends comfort, performance, and protection with electronics that limit amplified sounds to 82 dBA within 5 milliseconds. An active-volume system provides distortion-free amplification of low-level sounds up to 19 dBA. The folding design includes independent volume controls in each cup.
Okay, the battery experience is less than ideal, but it's not as bad as people seem to think. You should not pry out the foam padding from the ear muff. The black padded ring around the ear snaps off. Then you can easily remove the foam padding and insert the batteries.

Bought the old Peltor yellow, analog (dial) tuning type model when I first saw them hit the market many years back. They were tough and held up well to pretty some rough use over the years. Still work fine too. Yet, trying to find and stay on my favorite station was a royal pain in the rear! I'm talking a major annoyance here. Enjoyed them anyway. Belive me: you do not want the old dial tuner type. This digital model is a major improvement. It stays tuned right where I set it and has a memory function for favorite stations. Also has other improvements as well. The MUSIC SURE HELPS when I'm doing a mundane chore like cutting grass. Helps to keep me motivated and enjoy doing the job more. They are a product of Sweden that is Assembled in the USA. Right good quality too. Paid $64.90 for them with shipping. Well worth the price for me.Sept. 2011: Stay tuned to a station 70 miles away by road- probably 60 plus miles straight line. The reception may waver some as I go around my home and such but it is plenty good for me. Knowing I have the optimal setting with the digital tuner is what makes these so much better than the older model. There is more room for the ears also- deeper foam cups.

Peltor Blue Tooth Headset, Headband, NRR 25 dB MT53H7AWS2
I bought these to attend phone meetings. I got tired of all of the junky Bluetooth headsets that drop calls, sound terrible to you, and sound terrible to your listeners. These work very well. The directional microphone pointed at your mouth renders sound clearly without picking up any ambient or wind noise. I have used these while riding a bicycle at 15 mph, an impossible feat with the omnidirectional microphones near your ear on typical Bluetooth headsets. I have also used these early in the morning when birds are active, and the microphone does not pick up these very hard-to-mask sounds, which you often hear on early morning telephone meetings :).The sound quality is very good, though not perfect. There is an occasional crackle of muted static, but never anywhere near the level of distraction. The sound dampening works well, too, and it is possible to talk on the phone at an active indoor gun range with this headset. The only thing that takes a bit of getting used to, is that at the default setting, your own voice sounds a little muted in the headset. This volume is adjustable, but if you turn it up enough to match what you would hear without the headset, it sounds a little tinny. I opted for slightly muted :).Range is excellent, up to 50 feet, without all of the exasperating nodal dropouts every few feet that plague rechargeable earpiece-sized Bluetooth headsets. I have never had the signal drop from putting the phone in my pocket, or turning my body, as so often happens with…

This is a good price for SwatTac II's. It does include the mic boom however and it is built into the unit. I couldn't find a way to remove it. I know the muffs without the mic usually cost more and they sell the mic module separately. I was hoping this was just the muffs including the mic. I didn't realize they even made this as one unit. I had to return it. If you need the com/mic piece you are all set, but remember that you won't be able to remove it. If you can't live with the mic boom turned up and the com patchcord dangling from the muffs, you don't want this unit. Seemed to work great though otherwise.
